Regarding the genre, the only thing I'd add is that you can select the entire album (not just a song) and change the genre. You can do that by either (a) delete the song from the iTunes library, or (b) un-check the song and set your iPod to sync to only checked items, or (c) create a playlist of what you want your iPod to contain and set your iPod to sync to only that playlist, or (d) change your iPod to be manually managed and then you can delete the song(s) directly from the iPod while connected to iTunes. Instead, you would need to exclude them from synchronizing to your iPod. If your iPod is set for auto-synchronization to your iTunes library, the iPod contents will appear grey in iTunes and you cannot edit them or delete them from the iPod. If you treat your files like that, you will lose them someday, guaranteed! That wouldn't be secure anyway since the iPod is not intended to be the one and only location for your media files. There is no way to go direct from ripping to iPod. You have to import your CDs to your computer (or external drive), then from iTunes load the songs to your iPod.
Rip music from ipod without itunes software#
I have uploaded an entire CD to my iPod, but now want to delete some tracks, but the software does not seem to allow me to navigate and delete or rename what is on the iPod, is there a way to do this through iTunes software? I previously had a Creative Zen so am used to managing tracks directly on the device so am lost with this interface Sorry if I missed the obvious, but have spent 3 hours trying to figure this!!
Rip music from ipod without itunes how to#
My next confusion is that I cannot see how I can edit the Genre to suit what I want it to be (Hank Marvin is definitely not ‘Country’) – I want to change all the Shadows CDs to “Instrumental Rock” but cannot figure out how to do that.

Is this correct? My work laptop only has 2 Gb of free space, and I am intending to upload mega Gb onto the iPod, I cannot find a way of uploading from CD directly to the iPod without uploading to the hard drive first. Forgive me if I am being dumb and missing something obvious! I am trying to upload my CD collection (about 240 disks) onto my shiny first iPod that is a new born 5 hours old ? It appears that I have to add the CD to an iTunes Library on my hard drive first, then sync with the iPod.
